After carefully assessing McSport's requirements for a tool to create, manage, and analyze bundles, we identified the perfect app for their needs. Now, creating a new bundle takes approximately 30 seconds. They simply envision the package they require and create it within the app – no physical bundles need to be stocked. Looking ahead, we can confidently state that the tool has boosted sales and saved them significant labor costs associated with physical bundle creation in the warehouse.
To develop a bundle sales strategy, we initiated an analysis to identify the most in-demand products. We compiled a list of the top ten best-selling items and then explored which other products were frequently purchased alongside them. Bundles were then curated based on these findings. Additionally, our approach to bundle creation relied on common sense. For instance, customers purchasing barbells would also require plates; hardly anyone buys just barbells. Leveraging our collective business experience, together with McSport, we curated the optimal bundles, drawing upon their inherent knowledge of potential bundle combinations.
After creating bundles, it's crucial to monitor their performance on a weekly basis. Which sets were the top sellers? Which sets failed to sell? By utilizing a weekly report of this nature, it becomes straightforward to assess the success of each package and identify opportunities for improvement. Using this data, new trends were identified and experiments were conducted with less popular products. This approach resulted in a significant increase in the average order value by at least 50%. Depending on seasonality, this increase could be even more pronounced.
As previously mentioned, McSport had physical bundles that occupied considerable space in the warehouse. Creating these bundles required coordination across multiple departments, including purchasing and warehouse management, to ensure availability and assembly. With the new app, physical sets are no longer necessary. This has not only increased sales but also eliminated many of the labor costs associated with creating physical bundles.

In order to improve usability and to present a contemporary online store in terms of technology and design, essig-oel.de was relaunched. The store system was migrated with all important data and functions from Magento 1 to Magento 2 and the design was optimized in numerous places.

After the online store was set up in the Magento 1 store system in 2017, CYBERDAY took over the technical support shortly afterwards. As the agency of Essig & Oel Compagnie, CYBERDAY has not only been responsible for the further development and maintenance of the store since then, but also provides advice and support. In addition to a growing product range, many new functions have been integrated over time. In order to continue to guarantee its customers security and reliability when purchasing delicatessen products, Essig & Oel Compagnie decided to migrate to Magento 2 due to the end of support for Magento 1. The aim was not only to bring the online store up to date technically, but also to revise the design and page structure in many areas.
Solution
The design of the new online store was not to be fundamentally changed, but simply given a new polish and a more modern look. The layouts were created by Essig & Oel Compagnie and discussed with CYBERDAY in a first round. Some usability problems were identified and further optimizations were made until the layout met all requirements and wishes. The biggest changes were made to the product detail page. The page was restructured and a lot of new product information was added to support customers in their purchasing decisions, particularly in the vinegar and olive oil categories, and to ensure the best possible online advice. In addition to a nutritional value table and list of ingredients, a large number of analysis values and facts worth knowing have been included. Cross-selling products and product reviews also find a place on the site. Compared to the Magento 1 store, the site was generally designed to be wider and equipped with a sticky header. Search engine-optimized category and brand pages as well as an optimized search via Elastic Search allow customers to find their desired products more quickly. Relevant content can be maintained in an advice section in the form of a blog, which provides the user with further assistance in the world of vinegar and olive oil. Another highlight of the online store is a recipe function. Recipes with images can be created and linked to the ingredient products. On the product pages of the ingredients, the link to the recipe suggestion automatically appears as cooking inspiration for the customer. A pre-order function has also been integrated, which will be used to sell fresh oranges from Sicily, especially in the colder months. The OneStepCheckout checkout had already proven its worth in the Magento 1 store, so it was also integrated into the new online store. Thanks to the clear checkout in the form of three columns, the customer can see at a glance which details need to be entered and is quickly navigated through the purchase process. PAYONE was integrated as the payment service provider. A solution for placing advertising banners and information was implemented to communicate offers and discount promotions. An interface for exchanging data with the merchandise management system was integrated to ensure smooth and fast order processing. In addition, there is an interface to Channable for managing product data feeds and an interface to SendinBlue for transferring newsletter subscribers. During the migration from Magento 1 to Magento 2, all product, order and customer data as well as CMS content was transferred. The existing hosting via CYBERDAY was adapted to the new online store and ensures good and stable performance.
